Nurse Unit Supervisor ICU
**Employment Type:** Full time **Shift:** Rotating Shift **Description:** At Saint Alphonsus Health System, we’re searching for a **Nursing Supervisor** to join and help lead our ICU team at our newest facility in Nampa, Idaho. This position will be located at our Medical Center (https://www.saintalphonsus.org/location/saint-alphonsus-medical-center-nampa) at the corner of I-84 and Garrity Boulevard. **Why this role is for you:** As a Nurse Supervisor in this 18-bed ICU you’ll lead a team of highly skilled critical care professionals in a Level III Trauma Center, providing expert care to patients with complex and acute conditions. This role combines advanced clinical practice with leadership responsibilities, giving you the opportunity to mentor and support your team while maintaining your hands-on expertise in critical care. You’ll manage a wide variety of cases, collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, and play a pivotal role in driving exceptional patient outcomes. With access to cutting-edge technology, diverse clinical scenarios, and a supportive environment, this position offers an ideal opportunity for an experienced ICU nurse to advance their career and develop leadership skills while continuing to make a difference at the bedside. **A day in the life of** **a** **supervisor** : + Uphold Saint Alphonsus Health System’s Guiding Behaviors and Caring Standards through effective communication and professional conduct. + Oversee shift operations, ensuring optimal quality of care, adequate staffing, and smooth departmental functions. + Collaborate with department managers and QA representatives to champion quality assurance programs and patient safety initiatives. + Lead by example, performing essential Registered Nurse duties on the ICU floor and offering direct patient care when needed. + Mentor new team members, coordinate preceptor assignments, and support the development of future charge nurses. + Evaluate and enhance staff performance through hiring, competency assessments, counseling, and development initiatives. + Actively review and address patient grievances and incident reports, working to continuously improve the patient and family experience. + Serve as a key point of communication, fostering collaboration between patients, families, physicians, and healthcare teams. + Take on administrative responsibilities, including scheduling, timekeeping (Kronos), and supply management, to keep the unit running efficiently. + Represent the Nurse Manager during meetings and in their absence. **Minimum Qualifications** : + Current RN license as defined by their primary work state (Idaho or Oregon), issued prior to hire date. + Multistate licenses must establish residency with the Idaho Board of Nursing within 60 days from hire. + Must possess a comprehensive knowledge of leadership and supervision as normally obtained through a bachelor’s degree in nursing or health care related field with two years of RN experience in acute care or an equivalent combination of education and experience. + At hire, Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross is required.
