Summary:

Th 4 Rehab MST/CNA assists with the routine care of patients ranging from young adult to geriatric and the maintenance of the unit under the direction of the professional nurse.

 

Experience/Education Requirements:

Completion of certified nurse aid courseNursing student who can show completion of a semester of clinical rotation.

 

License or Certification Requirements:

CNA certificate registered with the State of IllinoisCurrent CPR certification or obtainment within 6 months of hiring with subsequent recertification preferred

 

 

Responsibilities:

Ability to transfer patients within the hospital environment and assist with bed mobility.Answer call lights in a timely and courteous manner.Assist patients with all aspects of ADL'sAssist peers in training and developing new hires to ensure individual and team success.Document chartable activities in computer.Feed patients and give them between meal fluids and nourishments.Follow and maintain isolation procedures, especially chemo precautions.Follow the interdisciplinary plan of care developed by the professional nurse.Knowledgeable on hospital disaster preparedness and assist with evacuation effectively.Make beds, occupied or unoccupied.Obtain and record patient weights: standing, bedscale, and wheelchairParticipates by actions and demeanor the goals of 'I Respect'.Reports changes in patients' condition to the professional nurse.Restock supplies in patients' rooms.Take temperatures, pulse, respirations, B/P's, and measure and document I & O's.Utilize safety restraints and assistive devices appropriately.

Hearing: Necessary to hear alarms, calls for help and to hear patient verbalizations.

Lifting of patients off their beds that are unable to move independently is done with assistive lifting equipment. Horizontal movement of patients to and from carts/beds who are unable to move independently is done with assistive lifting equipment. Lifting equipment - carry 25-150'- waist high (IV bags, patient trays). Carry charts 25-150' waist high. Filled laundry bags are filled half full so as not to weigh over 35 lbs. Carry fire extinguishers down 1/2 flight of stairs or up 3-4 flights of stairs and several yards in an emergency.
