Summary:
Riverside Healthcare is seeking a compassionate and reliable Nursing Assistant to join our Assisted Living and Memory Care team. The Nursing Assistant will provide essential support to residents by assisting with daily activities, promoting their independence, and ensuring a safe and caring environment. This role is vital in delivering personalized care to residents, particularly those with memory impairments such as Alzheimer’s and dementia. The ideal candidate will be patient, empathetic, and committed to enhancing the quality of life for our residents. Demonstrates flexibility with assignments within professional scope/duties/licensure.

Responsibilities:
Essential Job Duties:
1. Resident Care:
o Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
o Provide mobility assistance, including transfers from bed to chair, ambulation, and the use of assistive devices.
o Help residents with personal hygiene tasks, including oral care, skin care, and hair care.
o Provide care tailored to the needs of residents with memory impairments, using strategies to reduce anxiety and confusion.
2. Health Monitoring:
o Take and record residents’ vital signs, including temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure.
o Observe and report any changes in residents’ physical or mental condition to the Nurse.
o Assist in monitoring residents’ dietary needs.
3. Resident Interaction:
o Provide companionship and engage residents in conversation and activities to support their emotional well-being.
o Encourage residents’ independence while offering support as needed.
o Respond promptly to residents' calls for assistance.
4. Environment & Safety:
o Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly environment in residents’ living areas.
o Assist with light housekeeping tasks such as bed-making, tidying rooms, and laundry.
o Follow infection control protocols and ensure residents' living spaces are sanitary.
5. Documentation:
o Accurately document care provided, observations, and any changes in residents’ conditions.
o Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA guidelines and facility policies.
6. Team Collaboration:
o Work closely with nurses, therapists, and other healthcare staff to ensure coordinated care.
o Participate in care planning meetings and provide input on residents’ care needs.
7. Organizational Compliance:
o Adhere to all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, including those related to infection control, safety, abuse, neglect and resident privacy (HIPAA).
o Mentor and guide less experienced nursing staff and assist with training new employees.
o Promote a positive and supportive environment for both residents and staff.
o Regularly complete all assigned training modules and courses within the Learning Management System (LMS) to stay up to date on required skills, policies, and industry standards.
