Summary This position is located in the Shiprock Service Unit, Four Corners Regional Health Center, Red Mesa, AZ. Division of Nursing Services, Outpatient Department. Position serves as support staff, responsible for prioritizing tasks as assigned, utilizing universal precautions and ensuring a safe, clean and orderly environment conductive to the delivery of quality nursing care. Positions reports to the Supervisory Nurse. Responsibilities 12/26/2024 - Position Re-announced to solicit for additional applicants. Provide basic nursing care to patients with a variety of conditions, illnesses, and/or injuries. Responsible for obtaining and recording patient information as assigned per unit policy. Shares in the responsibility of maintenance of clinical records and nursing care plans. Maintains a courteous and professional manner. Assists in arrangement of clinic appointments and discharge/transfer transportation. Shares in the responsibility for reporting observations by observing the patient's condition and reactions, and keeping the nurse in charge informed of condition changes. Assists patient in Activities of Daily Living (ADL). Assists health providers in examination of patients by explaining procedures, positioning, draping and assembling instruments and supplies. Performs general maintenance duties including, arranging and restocking supply cabinets; cleaning and sorting supplies, instruments and equipment. Performs 12 lead EKG and sets up for the cardiac monitoring. Requirements Conditions of Employment Must pass pre-employment examination. Qualifications To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: GS-05: One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-04 grade level; OR, (4) years above high school leading to a bachelor's degree with courses related to the occupation. Specialized Experience (for positions at GS-4 and above): Qualifying specialized experience includes nonprofessional nursing care work in a hospital, outpatient clinic, nursing home, or other medical, nursing, or patient care facility, or in such work as that of a home health aid performing duties Examples Include: Knowledge of basic and advance age-specific nursing assistant skills and responsibilities to sufficiently perform assigned treatments, patient care, use and monitoring of specialized equipment, record patient information, obtain and label specimens, and assist with patient examinations. Providing basic nursing care to patients with a variety of conditions, illnesses, and/or injuries; obtaining and recording patient information (i.e. vital signs, height, weight, I&O, etc.) Performs glucometer testing; ability to react in emergency situations, to initiate CPR; knowledge of medical terminology. Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement. Federal Employees earn annual leave at a rate (4, 6 or 8 hours per pay period) which is based on the number of years they have served as a Federal employee. IHS may offer newly-appointed Federal employees credit for their directly related previous non-federal experience or active duty uniformed military service. This credited service can be used in determining the rate at which they earn annual leave. This position is covered by a Bargaining Unit. Government housing maybe available.
