Overview M Health Fairview is looking for a Nursing Assistant to join our St. John’s Hospital team in Maplewood, MN. This position is 64 hours per two weeks on the Night shift, for 8 hour shifts, every other weekend, variable schedule and is eligible for benefits such as: PTO, dental/medical insurance, and more. About this Unit: Our unit offers 29 LDRP (labor, delivery, recovery & post-partum) beds plus 2 triage rooms. We have 1 water birth room and 2 OR suites. We provide single room care, which provides patients and families with outstanding care, all within the same room throughout their stay. We average 200+ deliveries a month and manage many outpatients daily for antenatal testing. Daily census is 18 mom and baby couplets. Our NICU is newly remodeled, and we are pleased to expand our care to higher risk patients (28 weeks gestational age). Responsibilities Job Description A member of the interdependent team led by a designated RN, is accountable to perform patient care duties and activities for a group of patients. Performs such care as vital sign checks, bladder scanning, blood sugar testing, documentation of cares provided. Reports patient care data and progress of outcomes to designated RN. Job Expectations: Demonstrates dedication to the universal guiding principles of the patient care model in order to achieve the Fairview Nursing vision. Supports the Nursing Process to achieve outcome focused patient care. Supports comprehensive nursing theory based on Watson's theory of caring aligning with the practice standards of the American Holistic Nurses' Association and the nursing care model (Professional Partnership Model) to acquire the Nursing vision. Communicates accurately and efficiently with patient/family and health care team members. Reinforces patient education as advised by clinical staff. Documents patient information in EHR and/or other electronic system in accordance with program standards, department policies/procedures. Maintains knowledge of, and follows all relevant laws, regulations, policies, procedures, and standards. Performs other responsibilities as needed/assigned. Qualifications Required: License/Certification/Registration Basic Life Support (BLS for Healthcare Providers) certification required. Ontrack participants much be able to acquire BLS certification upon completion of the OnTrack program Six months of recent direct care experience in a long term, home care or acute care setting. (Appropriate roles may include, Nursing Assistant, PCA, Resident Assistant or Emergency Room Technician) Or Current enrollment in an LPN, RN or Nurse Practitioner program, and completion of one (1) semester of clinical rotation within the program Or Current certification on the MN Nursing Assistant Registry upon hire. This requirement does not need to be maintained throughout employment and is not required if subsequently transferring into another Nursing Assistant or Nursing Station Tech or Nursing Station Attendant position Note: Individuals who have completed a NA program and are scheduled to take the NA Registry exam will be granted 90 days post hire to become active on the Minnesota NA Registry.
