The nurse assistant provides patient care under the supervision of the registered nurse. This care focuses on personal hygiene, nutritional needs and activities of daily living.
What you will Do:
Assists with patient’s physical, psychosocial, environmental, spiritual, social and education needs and supports the patient's plan of care throughout patient’s stay.
Effectively communicates pertinent patient changes/conditions to the Registered Nurse and multidisciplinary team to achieve desired patient outcomes, and documents in the electronic/paper medical record in an accurate/timely manner.
Provides for patient comfort, safety, and protects dignity, privacy and confidentiality.
Communicates with internal/external customers/colleagues in a courteous, positive, empathic and professional manner, and accepts assignments willingly.
Attends and participates in departmental/organizational meetings, in-services and educational opportunities. Department meeting attendance requirement: 80% with 50% in person if department meetings are available by webinar.
Serves as a steward for the hospital’s human and material resources. Meets productivity expectations of unit/department as defined by unit manager. Utilizes and maintains appropriate supplies in department. Supports staffing needs for patient care in multiple units, as needed, while being flexible with schedule and hours.
Hours/Schedule:
Full Time- Rotating - 36 hrs weekly
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Successful completion of formal Nurse Aid course/training verified through transcript or original program certificate of completion, required OR
Currently enrolled in an A.D.N., B.S.N., program with successful completion of first semester of A.D.N. program, OR first year completion of nursing courses in BSN OR graduate of an A.D.N., Diploma, BSN or LPN program OR
Registered on State of Iowa Nurse Aide registry listing as “Active” or eligible, preferred.
Must provide proof of Basic Life Support (BLS Healthcare Provider, American Heart Association; or American Red Cross, Professional Rescuer-LIVE class only) via current card prior to employment or within 60 days of hire and maintains current status.
Completes Mandatory Reporting: Child and Dependent Adult Abuse requirement within 6 months of hire and renews this requirement every 5 years.
