About the unit 

The Nursing Resource Pool (NRP) is made up of a variety of Nurses (ICU nurses, progressive-care nurses, and medical-surgical nurses), Nursing Assistants, Ward Secretaries and Patient Observation Aides (Patient Sitters).  Being a team member in the NRP means having the flexibility to work in various units or departments within a healthcare facility.  It involves being ready to step in and provide care where it is needed most.  Depending on staffing needs, the NRP member will be deployed to different specialties such as medical-surgical, progressive and critical care.  Some members of the NRP do assist in women's health.  This role requires adaptability, quick thinking, and the ability to work effectively in different environments.  It also entails being knowledgeable about a wide range of hospital practices and policies.  Strong communication skills are necessary to collaborate with all team members.  The patients, families, and staff of the hospital all greatly value and appreciate the help and expertise that the NRP staff provide to them.

Scope of work 

Assists licensed nursing staff in providing direct patient care and helps in the environmental maintenance of the nursing unit under the direction of the Registered Nurse and within the scope of defined practice. Provides for personal care and safety needs of patients promptly under the supervision of licensed nursing staff including specific procedures and patient testing addressed in the patient plan of care. Maintains an orderly unit environment with sufficient supplies and equipment in order to facilitate staff performance of patient care. Facilitates the admission, discharge, and transfer of patients on and off unit in accordance with established policies and procedures.

Range of Pay 

·         Pay starting at $15.13.

Qualifications 

·       High School Diploma or Equivalent Required 

·       AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Required

·       Previous hospital or nursing home experience Preferred

·       Current CNA certification Preferred
