Nursing Assistant- Skilled Nursing Unit -Full Time - Nights

Description:The nurse assistant provides care to, adult, and geriatric patients under the supervision of the registered nurse. This care focuses on personal hygiene, nutritional needs and activities of daily living.

Assists with patient’s physical, psychosocial, environmental, spiritual, social and education needs under the supervision of a RN/LPN. (Continuous Learner) Supports a plan of care throughout patient’s stay.  Provides input/data on changes in the patient’s condition to the professional nurse. (Continuous Learner) Supports the discharge plan based on health center/department policy, and patient/family needs.  (Continuous Learner) Records patient information in the electronic/paper medical record in an accurate/timely manner. (Communication/Adherence to Policy)) Communicates patient information to the Registered Nurse/LPN and multidisciplinary team.  (Communication) Communicates with and performs duties following Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa Guiding Behaviors. (Communication) Works collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team in the provision of patient care to achieve desired patient care outcomes. (Teamwork) Recognizes personal learning and development needs.  Participates in developing their yearly performance goals.  Creates a plan for professional/personal growth.  (Continuous Learner). Supports learning opportunities to meet the educational needs of patient/family.  (Continuous Learner/Initiative) Provides for patient comfort, safety, and protects dignity, privacy and confidentiality.  (Adherence to Policy) Communicates with internal/external customers/colleagues in a courteous, positive, empathetic and professional manner.  Speaks to everyone.  Always communicates with care.  Speaks calmly, clearly, and courteously.  Stops and listens when a customer/colleague speaks.  Communicates consistently with colleagues in a professional and respectful manner and accepts assignments willingly.  (communication) Responsible for maintaining and participating in departmental/organizational meetings, in-services and educational opportunities. (Continuous Learner) Serves as a steward for the hospital’s human and material resources.  Meets productivity expectations of unit/department as defined by unit manager.  Identifies/enters accurate charges (including charge reconciliation).  Utilizes and maintains appropriate supplies in department.  Support staffing needs for patient care.  (Teamwork/Adherence to Policy) Adapts positively to the ever changing health care environment by supporting technology and process changes.  Willing to learn new things, is open to change and maintain a calm, positive manner under stressful conditions.   (Adaptability/Self-Aware) Serves or supports process improvement teams, which influence customer satisfaction, clinical outcomes and financial stability.  (Problem solving) Performs technical skills as delegated.  Demonstrates proficiency in the use of equipment. Provides competent patient care to the above indicated patient populations by obtaining and appropriately interpreting data, making appropriate decisions based on demonstrated knowledge of age-specific growth and development, and appropriately adapting procedures and treatments.
