Nursing Assistant Training Program
Overview This position is aligned with the Mercyhealth Nursing Assistant Training Program. Participants will attend an unpaid training program with the potential to move to a CNA position within Mercyhealth once certified. Those offers will be aligned with a specific unit and schedule based on their interests and the unit needs. The program is 88 hours total and is offered at Mercyhealth Hospital and Trauma Center, Janesville, WI. Participants must attend all classes in order to successfully complete the program and be eligible to sit for the state exam. The training program will be held on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. The commitment will be from 6:30am until 4:30pm depending on the course objectives for the day. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis and the class schedule for 2025 is included below: January 13 – February 10 March 3 – March 31 April 14 – May 12 June 9 – July 9 July 14 – August 11 September 3 – October 1 Ocober 20 - November 17 Attends the Mercyhealth Nursing Assistant Training Program. Under the supervision of a CNA, provides essential duties and responsibilities described below. Partner with a CNA to provide exposure to clinical experiences that will prepare them for their roles as CNA. Upon completion of the training program, partner must pass the Certified Nursing Assistant Wisconsin State Examination. Once certified, cares for patients in the hospital setting under direction of nursing staff, by performing the following duties, supporting the nursing philosophy. May include weekends, holidays, day, evening, night, and/or on-call hours. Performs other duties as assigned. Education and Experience Currently enrolled in Mercyhealth Nursing Assistant Program. Certification/Licensure Achieve CNA licensure upon completion of Mercyhealth Nursing Assistant Training Program Approved CPR or BLS certification required within 90 days. Certification is must be obtained within 30 days of finishing the program. Special Physical Demands While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, talk, hear, and use hands to handle, finger, or feel. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, steep, kneel, crouch, crawl, taste, and smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 lbs. and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities include close vision, color vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
