Fairview Hospital's Birthing Services help over 4,000 expectant families bring their babies into the world each year. Caregivers in the 4 North Postpartum Unit specialize in caring for patients during the period after childbirth. This team helps patients navigate through major body and emotional changes while also monitoring patients for symptoms or severe conditions. **A caregiver in this position works nights, 7:00PM - 7:30AM.** A caregiver who excels in this role will: + Provide patient care under the direction of an RN. + Assist with data collection and treatments. + Perform administrative functions for the unit. + Observe and report changes in patients' condition. + Document activities in the patient care record. + Assist with transporting and discharging patients. + Transcribe and process all orders. + Prepare, maintain and process all charts, filed, records and mail. + Maintain inventory. Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: + A high school diploma or GED. + Nursing students: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA). All other applicants are required to obtain this within the new hire period. + Basic computer skills. Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: + Completion of a medical assistance course. + State Tested Nurse Assistant (STNA). + Previous healthcare and patient care experience in a hospital.
