Responsibilities The Nurse Director assumes twenty-four hour responsibility for planning and coordinating the clinical and managerial aspects of the BHU inpatient unit in accordance with the philosophy/goals/standards of BHS, nursing professional practice and the hospital. The Nurse Director, in collaboration with the BHS leadership team, is responsible for the day to day operations and milieu of the inpatient unit; provides direct supervision and leadership of nursing personnel; coordinates the incident management program, conducts quality assurance and performance improvement activities, works in collaboration with the Nursing Department and Nursing Professional Practice. Garnet Health System provides a compensation range to comply with the New York State law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The range for the role is $124,352.00-$155,439.00 salaried. The range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits. When determining a team member’s compensation and/or rate, several factors may be considered as applicable (e.g., location, specialty, service line, years of relevant experience, education, credentials, negotiated contracts, budget and internal equity). Qualifications Minimum Education: Bachelors Degree, Masters Degree in Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing or related field preferred. Minimum Experience: Five years of clinical experience, at least two years in behavioral health services. Two years in a nursing leadership preferred, one year of leadership in an inpatient behavioral health unit preferred. Required Certification/Registration: Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of New York. Ongoing BLS required, non-violent crisis intervention certification (within 3 months). Must attend hospital crisis training program within 3 months of hire or transfer and annually thereafter. Physical Requirements: Travel to multiple facilities is required. Working Conditions: Environmental Demands and Exposure to Hazards: Works in a clean, well- lighted, heated or ventilated facility. No routine exposure to hazards. Participation in tasks that include an inherent potential for mucous membrane or skin contact with blood and body substances or a potential for a splash or spill of these substances. Physical Demands: Demonstrates physical and functional ability to perform full anatomical range of motion to accomplish tasks. Evidence of visual and aural acuity and finger and hand dexterity to operate computer and office equipment. Can withstand long periods of sitting, standing and/or constant walking. Ability to lift 10 lbs. Standing and walking, lifting, moving patients and equipment, sitting for prolonged periods. Works in behavioral health, medical/surgical and ambulatory areas. Primarily day shift hours but some evenings, nights and weekends may be required depending upon need. May need to assist agitated patients in safely managing behaviors. May be exposed to stressful and unpredictable situations. Noise level is usually moderate. Mental Demands: Ability to foster collaborative relationships, to work well under pressure, to organize and synthesize new information, and prioritize tasks. Possesses critical thinking, analytical skills and flexibility. Ability to multi-task. Required detailed attention to work in an environment where interruptions cannot be controlled. Demonstrates sensitivity to customer needs and expectations. May be subject to irregular hours including evenings or potentially weekends to participate in operational and community events as necessary. Workplace type On-site
