Nursing Division Charge Capture Nurse
Under the direction of the Nurse Manager or the Director of Nursing, the Nursing Division Charge Capture Nurse is responsible for conducting revenue cycle audits to ensure the accuracy of charges, missing charges, etc. The Charge Capture Nurse will perform independent audits/reviews of patient charts to corresponding charges to ensure completeness and appropriateness of documentation and revenue cycle functions and charges. This position analyzes the audit results and makes recommendations for corrective action when problems are discovered.  This position works with the Business Office, IT, and Revenue Integrity to implement all action plans and process changes. The Nursing Division Charge Capture Nurse resolves problem accounts in accordance with Valleywise Health policies and procedures.     Hourly Pay Rate: $36.94 - $54.49   Qualifications Education: Requires a bachelor’s degree in nursing or a related field. Experience:  Must have a minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible recent nursing experience in the healthcare field, including coding skills/experience that demonstrates a strong understanding of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Experience in Utilization Review/ Case-management and compliance auditing preferred. Certification/Licensure: Must possess a current, valid AZ RN license, temporary AZ RN license, or valid compact RN licensure for current state of practice. Must be in good standing with the issuing Board of Nursing. Prefer RHIT or CPC-H certification. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Requires a working knowledge of chart/bill audits, clinical documentation, and coding requirements. Must be knowledgeable and proficient with Excel, Access, and Epic programs. Must have a working knowledge of chart/bill audits or the ability to abstract medical information and the revenue cycle process related to patient billing. Must have strong working knowledge of medical terminology, patient care services, and medical record chart documentation (IP and OP) is required. Must thoroughly know CMS compliance guidelines for hospital coding, billing, and documentation. Requires strong analytical skills and strong oral and written communication skills. Must possess excellent problem-solving skills. Must be able to work independently and effectively organize work schedules. Must be able to perform multiple concurrent assignments under pressure and within an established timeframe. Requires the ability to read, write, and speak effectively in English.
