Nursing Educator, Registered Nurse, Part Time Days, 7a - 3p, Morristown Medical Center
Responsible for assisting with the professional role development of members of the Nursing Department as well as the implementation of programs to improve the quality of care delivered. Principal Accountabilities: 1. Ensures all on-the-job training is consistent with guidelines established 2. Ensures that site trainers/preceptors have the knowledge, tools, and attitude to effectively train staff 3. Acts as both a formal and informal consultant, assisting with the integration of new learning into nursing practice and serving as a resource by assisting nurses in identifying problems, identifying available internal and external educational resources, and selecting educational options 4. Works with the Operations team in identifying changes that should be made in the nursing practice and facilitating the initiation of, adoption of, and adaption to change. Strives for excellence in patient care by self-monitoring and, as necessary, to ensure the safety and well-being of the patient. Identifies existing and potential problems and takes effective actions. 5. Develops and maintains an awareness of needed improvements in patient care, procedures, equipment and supplies and makes recommendations. 6. Other relevant duties as assigned. Essential Job Functions: + Functions as a certification coordinator acting as a liaison to the team members seeking a certification to enhance their professional development. + Develop current aspects of program to maximize enrollment into certification preparation to maximize success of 1% certification increase goal across system. + Develop current aspects of program to maximize enrollment into certification preparation to maximize success of 1% certification increase goal across system. + Market program through webpage, SG committees, meetings, unit projects, PDC-TV, Huddle, Workplace and networking. + Maintain database to track certified nurses by updating at least quarterly. + Celebrate newly certified: provide instructions for HR benefits, create CNO congrats letter and interoffice email of certification, enter certification database tracking, post quarterly CNO report celebrating newly certified RNs. + Promote certification by attending relevant meetings and share any updates. + Support unit educators and assistant nurse managers by providing information needed to assist team members to get certified. + Plan and execute the annual Certified Nurses Day celebration. + Other duties as assigned. Required: 1. MSN Required 2. BLS Required Specialty Certification Required 3. Minimum of 3 years of Acute Care experience in a hospital setting as a Registered Nurse 4. Valid New Jersey Nursing License Preferred: 1. Strong interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written 2. Patient, compassionate nature 3. Ability to operate as part of a team, alongside physicians and nurses 4.
