Position Summary: Under the supervision and cooperation of the Director, the supervisor oversees the daily processes of the nursing unit to ensure that safe, evidence-based care is provided. The supervisor contributes to the overall corporate objectives by providing leadership to the unit, assisting with financial management and maintaining policies.
Responsibilities:
Provides positive leadership through an environment of teamwork, open communication and customer service. Responsible for human resources processes including interviewing and orientating staff, ongoing performance management and timekeeping/scheduling and required documentation. Assists with financial management by developing and maintaining a budget, strives to keep operations within benchmarks and communicate variances. Ensures the compliance of policies and work instructions with regulatory standards to improve the overall operations of the facility. Assists with the maintenance schedules on equipment and ensures that equipment is safe for patients and personnel. Provides staff education and coaching. Participates in and utilizes evidence-based research for improving staff education activities, nursing practice and staff outcomes.Qualifications:
Required:
Current Kansas Registered Nurse License Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Knowledge of general nursing and practice. Current registered nurse licensure in the State of Kansas or has a work permit from the State Board of Nursing. BLS certification is required or must complete BLS certification in the first two weeks of employment. Additional certification may be required for certain patient care settings or populations. Minimum of one year experience caring for patients with orthopedic diseases and disorders such as arthritis, bone fractures, broken bones and joint replacements. Maintains a minimum of 8 hours CNE annually in Knee/Hip education.Preferred:
ACLS Certification Certification in nursing administration Related supervisory experience Master’s degreePatient Interaction: Periodic
Infection Control: Initial and Ongoing training in dealing with infection control. Trainings could include but are not limited to, blood borne pathogens, bodily fluids and bio hazardous materials as it applies to your daily work environment.
