The Nursing and Staff Educator is a Registered Professional Nurse who is responsible for planning, organizing, implementing and evaluating educational programs and/or training programs that assist the organization in assuring compliance with regulatory standards.
Responsibilities Assists the department with the implementation of any new programs from development to delivery. Effectively utilize various techniques and creative approaches that focus on meeting organizational needs. Develops, reviews and revises nursing procedures, competency performance checklists, teaching records, and education materials both directly and on a consultation basis. Delivers orientation and continuing education content based on adult learning principles, acting as a content expert and role model. Plans orientation and competency requirements based on future needs of staff. Implements educational programs in response to identified needs in a timely manner. Monitors educational outcomes through Performance Improvement (PI) activities, reviews PI data results and creates interventions to address gaps in knowledge, attitudes, and practice. Promotes knowledge of and compliance with regulatory requirements related to Patient Safety. Assists in annual review of mandatory education and core competencies based on the requirements of HMH, NJDOH, JCAHO, and other regulatory agencies. Remediates Team Members in identified areas of knowledge and skill deficit. Assures all Team Members are up-to-date and proper records are maintained. Communicates progress and completion of mandatory education requirements to leaders as appropriate. Serves as a representative on the Nursing, Quality and Policy committees and councils. Represents the organization at system and community level committees as needed/necessary. Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior. Other duties and/or projects as assigned. QualificationsEducation, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing. Minimum of 3 years of current nursing experience in behavioral health. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficient computer skills that may include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:
Master's degree in Nursing or Master's degree in Nursing Education. Experience with Quality Assurance/Performance Improvement/ Staff Development Experience.
Licenses and Certifications Required:
NJ State Professional Registered Nurse License. AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification or completed in the first 90 days of employment.
