The Nursing Student Aide assists with the care of individual patients as delegated by the RN. Tasks that may be delegated include, but are not limited to, vital signs, pulse oximetry, finger stick blood sugars, venipuncture, ambulation, skin care, personal assistance, incentive spirometry, simple dressings, assistance with initial patient history, application of oxygen via nasal cannula, insertion/removal of foley catheter, initiation and discontinuation of nebulizer treatments to exclude racemic epinephrine, administration of routine screening test/immunizations, administration of routine medications through approved routes, and other clerical duties.
Education REQUIRED: High school graduate or GED, currently enrolled in approved school of nursing and has successfully completed coursework in pharmacology, medication administration, and fundamentals.
Experience REQUIRED: Currently enrolled in approved school of nursing and has successfully completed coursework in pharmacology, medication administration, and fundamentals.
