Responsibilities

The clinical nutrition manager is responsible for leading and demonstrating the provision of safe, patient and family focused quality care. The manager oversees operations of allied health staff in the outpatient and inpatient settings and serves as a key member of the of the multidisciplinary management team. Communication, organizational and human relation skills are required in addition to decision-making and judgment capabilities. Duties include planning and implementation of policies and systems, staffing and workload management, support of department/division initiatives, institutional projects and staff recruitment. The manager serves as the primary resource for dietetic staff members. The manager must be able to perform duties independently and use good judgment when responding to management issues. In addition, the manager must be able to perform the duties of a clinical dietitian, utilizing the Nutrition Care Process as Medical Nutrition Therapy is provided to patients.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Nutrition or Food service related field is required for this position. Six years dietetic clinical experience required or three years dietetic clinical experience plus two years management experience.


Prefer Master's degree in Nutrition or Healthcare field, or Doctorate in Clinical Nutrition, and two years healthcare management experience with strong leadership, team building, and problem-solving skills as well as demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with multiple disciplines, i.e., physician, administrative, supervisory, and allied health staff. Certification in sub-specialty fields.Completion of accredited Internship or approved training program through the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics. Registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration. Licensed or eligible for licensure in the state of Minnesota.
