Nutrition Parent Educator - Suffolk County, NY
Cornell Cooperative Extension of Suffolk County’s Community Education Program seeks a Nutrition Parent Educator for Parent-Toddler Nutrition Programs throughout Suffolk County.

    

Job Responsibilities:

Teach nutrition programs about feeding young children to library audiences and parent groups.Serve as a resource to answer parent/caregiver questions at library programs.Maintain requires program data, record and submit monthly statistics.Review scheduling plans with supervising educator.Make arrangements to have adequate handouts and supplies available.Purchase necessary supplies for each program. Review subject matter materials currently available.Suggest updates when appropriate according to current research findings or when changes would better meet the needs of the program participants.Keep current in subject matter area. Suggest ideas for additional teaching aids and visuals.Deliver programs to diverse audiences in community settings in accordance with program agreements.

Qualifications:

Associate degree with an emphasis in food and nutrition.Experience with young children.Understanding of children’s nutritional needs and the parent-child feeding relationship.Ability to meet travel requirements associated with this position.Ability to communicate effectively.Ability to work independently.Ability to meet acceptable background check standards, if required.Ability to work flexible hours which may include evenings, and/or weekends, as appropriate.Bachelor’s degree or nutrition certifications desirable.Teaching experience with children and/or adults desirable.

POSITION DETAILS:

Salary:            $20-22 per hour

Schedule:      NONEXEMPT – TEMP

No relocation or VISA Sponsorship available
