NVH Engineer

Job Description:

Techtronic Industries (TTi) is seeking an NVH Engineer to join the Advanced/Analytical Engineering Team focusing on cutting-edge sound and vibration advancements in new products across all brands.  TTi is an industry leading consumer products company with core product lines in handheld and benchtop power tools, outdoor products and cleaning products. 

This position will work within a trusted research and innovation hub that accelerates disruptive technological advancements and enhances product capabilities and experiences for the end-user. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with expertise in NVH prediction, measurement, and mitigation related to electric motors, gears, bearings, housings, fans, and other mechanical and aeroacoustic systems. Experience with experimental modal analysis, ODS, source identification, sound power, sound quality, hemi-anechoic chambers, and acoustic cameras is essential. Proficiency with FEA, EMAG, CFD, and CAA is a plus.

This position is on-premise at the TTI Innovation Center near Greenville, SC.

Primary Responsibilities:

Serve as NVH Subject Matter Expert for TTi’s Outdoor Products DivisionReduce sound and enhance sound quality across various outdoor power equipment through innovative concepts and design improvementsDevelop and refine models to predict sound and vibration levels for new and revised designsWork closely with motor, gearing, design, and testing lab teams to correlate NVH modelsDesign and conduct Jury Testing to assess and refine sound quality effortsDevelop and implement advanced noise reduction methods for turbomachinery, drivetrains, and electric motorsConduct research and analysis to identify and implement cutting-edge noise mitigation solutionsSupport design teams with:Translating customer NVH preferences into measurable, verifiable product requirementsPerforming sound and vibration measurement and data analysisIdentifying noise and vibration sources and developing effective countermeasuresUtilizing FEA, EMAG, and CFD software for NVH predictionsRecommend best practices for NVH mitigationIntegrate leading NVH methodologies into TTi’s product development processesPresent findings, recommendations, and technical insights to stakeholders and senior managementDocument and share best practices and lead knowledge-sharing sessions with subject matter experts across TTI’s global teams and strategic brands

Qualifications

M.S. or higher in Mechanical, Electrical, or Aerospace with a specialization in acoustics and/or NVH5+ years of experience required in NVH analysis, measurement, and mitigationStrong foundation in math and physics related to acoustics and vibrationsAbility to manage multiple projects efficiently in a fast-paced environmentPassion for experimentation, simulation, and collaboration in a team setting

Preferred Software Experience

BKConnect or similar NVH analysis toolSimulation tools from ANSYS and/or Altair, including Mechanical, Fluent, Maxwell, OptiStruct, and othersNX, Solidworks, or similar CAD tools for mechanical designMatlab, Python, or other scientific computing tools for data analysis and modeling
