O/F UTILITY I -3RD SHIFT

 ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Accurately picks customer orders within computerized Pick-to-Voice system, or manually, and assures that the quality and quantities are correct prior to shipping. Assembles cardboard containers or selects preassembled containers. Inserts items into containers, using the appropriate packing material base for bottle type and order size, to ensure delivery of products to customers without damage or errors.   Stores articles in bins, on pallets, on shelves, or in racks according to identifying information such as product number, size or type of product. Uses hand truck to move shipments from upper mezzanine packing/staging area to shipping dock. Manually picks orders utilizing a RF scanner, voice picking equipment and/or an electric pallet jack. As needed, voice picks and labels appropriate items with prop 65 stickers. Accurately scan boxes on pallets while palletizing to a new pallet. Identifies and submits suggestions to improve efficiencies, quality and safety.  When packing, uses a computer to verify and update shipping information and print shipping labels.  Actively participates in root cause analysis and other plant continuous improvement initiatives.  Recommends continuous improvement ideas.  Complies with safety requirements, GMP requirements, and SOP’s/WIs for work area.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED).   Prior distribution experience preferred.

 

PERFORMANCE ABILITY

Demonstrated ability through certification to Pick AND Pack orders in both NOW AND Lucky areas in Order Fulfillment area.  Demonstrated ability to consistently meet quality, safety and efficiency goals.  Good problem-solving skills required. Ability to prioritize and calmly handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment; demonstrate a strong sense of urgency; and flexibility to change tasks frequently and work in different work centers as business needs require.  Strong teamwork skills; ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with others; strong attention to detail skills; and demonstrated high quality of work. Consistently follows all company policies and procedures, including all safety policies and procedures. 

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to communicate professionally and effectively both verbally and in writing.  Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals (S.O.P.).   Ability to accurately complete paperwork.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. 

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Good problem-solving ability. 

 

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Ability to use RF scanner. Basic computer and data entry skills required.  Prior experience operating lift trucks helpful.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; stand on a concrete floor and walk (prolonged walking); ascend and descend stairs; use hands to finger, handle, feel and/or use tape dispensing gun and hand scanner; crouch and/or half kneel to access product on floor or low shelves; and reach with hands and arms.  The employee is occasionally required to operate a hand truck or pallet jack.  When packing, employee is required to use a computer. 

 

The employee must regularly lift, move (in some cases drag items), raise and/or place:

Palletize boxes and unload conveyor onto trailer - Lift up to 65 lbs. from floor to 36 inches and return to floor. Lift product on/off shelves – Lift up to 65 lbs. from 36 inch height, carry 3 feet and return to 36 inch height. Lift up to 20 lbs. from 36 inches to 5 feet shelf. Kneel and reach overhead. Move cart with product – Push a cart loaded with up to 100 lbs. up to 20 feet. Pick product from above conveyor belt – Reach at 5 foot height to arm’s length with either or both arms. Move pallet jacks - Push and pull with force of up to 42 lbs. at 36 inch height.
