OB RN Position Summary

The OB RN provides nursing care for pregnant mothers beginning around the 16th week of pregnancy all the way through the immediate postpartum period. The OB RN also provides care to the newborn immediately after delivery as well as care for families that experience a loss of pregnancy. The OB RN is responsible for developing, implementing and evaluating a plan of patient care utilizing ANA Standards and the Nursing Process. The registered nurse acts as a patient advocate. The OB RN provides support, information and direct care and utilizes equipment and technology skillfully and is technically competent in nursing procedures. The registered nurse educates patients and families on significant self-care issues. The inventory, distribution/delivery of medications may be required.

OB RN Position Requirements

Licensed and currently registered to practice as a Registered Nurse. Must hold a license in the state of permanent residency.  American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) PALS Electronic Fetal Monitoring, Neonatal Resuscitation, and obtain EFM certification within 2 years.

OB RN Work Schedule

May be assigned to day, evening, or night shifts or a combination per departmental policy. Scheduled off at least three holidays per year. Required to work weekends per unit need. Expected to work overtime on occasion.
