Performs duties in all areas of the Women & Children’s Unit. Assists surgeon during operative and invasive procedures. Ensures operating suite is adequately prepared for procedure. Monitor PAR level of all surgical instruments and supplies. Sort, clean and inspect surgical instruments in accordance with standard procedures and techniques, prepare instruments for transport to sterile processing, handles medication under the supervision of the surgeon or nurse. Assists medical staff and nurses in vaginal deliveries including setting up instruments, equipment and supplies, and cleaning equipment and instruments. Performs nursing assistant duties including obtaining vital signs, height and weight measurements, assist patients with feeding, and other activities of daily living. Assist nursing staff as directed; preparation, positioning, transports, transfer and discharge of patient. Participates in departmental staff meetings and performance improvement activities.
Provides indirect care in the department setting under the direction of the Charge Nurse. Transcribes orders from records, faxes to appropriate destination. Performs detailed and accurate assignments and compiles information to ensure accurate records.
KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE : Sufficient experience to demonstrate ability to accept responsibilities. Minimum of one (1) year of work experience in the Operating Room is preferred. 1 Year hospital experience preferred,
EDUCATION : High School diploma or GED preferred. Post high school education and/or certification in a healthcare related field is preferred. Completes all mandatory review/education as required and assigned
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY: Associate Degree, Surgical Technology strongly preferred if less than two years experience. Operating Room Technician Certification is preferred. Current BCLS Certification is required.
