Responsibilities

Position Summary

Under the direction of the Department Director and/or Registered Nurse assists nursing personnel in maintaining required medical record documentation as well as administrative / clerical processes surrounding the daily operation of the Nursing Unit.

Under the direction of the RN implements care for a group of patients based upon the established plan of care. Refers questions and abnormal findings regarding patient care and/or priorities to the RN.

Demonstrates knowledge of the step-by-step progress of specific surgical procedures and displays dexterity in the use of required instrumentation.


Qualifications

Minimum

OB Techs hired after 6/1/2024 must possess and maintain a valid CNA or MA certification.

Must possess and maintain a current Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate.

Excellent organizational and clerical skills

Familiarity with computer operations

Must be able to take on-call shifts of 1 per week including 1 weekend per month

Must successfully complete OR Scrub Tech training within three months of hire.

Preferred:

High school graduate or equivalent

Prior experience as a Unit Clerk and/or OB Technician

Please be advised that this location requires quarterly American Heart Association (AHA) Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) competency certification post-hire.  This ongoing competency is required through resources internal to the facility; outside RQI competency resources are not acceptable for CommonSpirit Health compliance requirements.
