Scheduled Hours: Part Time; Day Shift 6:30 am to 7:00 pm, including rotating weekends and holidays
Position Requirements:
High School diploma or equivalent.
CPR certification.
Certified Nursing Assistant with 1yr experience.
Certified Scrub Assist preferred.
Knowledge of basic computer keyboard functions is preferred.
Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing.

If position has direct patient care or direct patient contact the following lifting requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 06/01/2015. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case~by~case basis.
Purpose:
To provide quality care to patients in a manner which is patient focused, technically appropriate and cost effective. The OB Tech works under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse in accordance with accepted standards of practice, within the guidelines of the Illinois Nursing Practice Act and the Mission and Philosophy of Advocate Healthcare and Condell Medical Center. The OB Tech works in collaboration with the RN as a partner in the care, treatment and education of patients. The OB Tech recognizes the needs and behaviors of patients of various age groups and provides care in a manner that is age appropriate. The OB Tech strives for patient centered care which assures the patient is treated holistically with dignity and respect.
Provides basic nursing care to patients in a team environment under the direct supervision of the nurse.
Performs as a scrub technician for all surgical procedures performed in the New Life Maternity Center unit.
Provides clerical support as needed.
Provides phlebotomy support as needed.
Additionally this position will provide non~clinical support for patient care units, by managing information to facilitate coordination and efficient delivery of patient care when in the role as a unit secretary.
Accountabilities:
Perform unit based lab draws on patients within The New Life Center
Facilitates smooth work flow in New Life Maternity Center through technical assistance to the staff
Assists Unit Secretaries to ensure accurate maintenance of the patients medical record computer skills
Perform tasks related to meeting the nutritional needs of the patient.
Provides general patient care duties that are specific to the patient population served, under the direction of the charge nurse
Participates in the Admission/Discharge/Transfer process of all patients under the guidance of the Registered Nurse, or designee
Contribute to the patient plan of care through the documentation and/or communication of patient needs, problems and outcomes to other health care providers
