Job Description:

The Obstetrics Technician performs duties and functions under the direction of a Registered Nurse.  This individual collects patient information and provides direct patient care contributing significantly to the achievement of patient and family outcomes.  The Obstetrics Technician is responsible and accountable for complete and accurate data collection and recording, completion of routine and delegated direct care activities, and communicating and collaborating with the Registered Nurse and other team members to prioritize workload to achieve patient care outcomes.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION

For positions requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, educational qualifications must be from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation.

Minimum Required: Have or has had Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) course.

Preferred/Optional: None

EXPERIENCE 

Minimum Required: None

Preferred/Optional: Experience providing direct patient care to women and infants.  Experience working in obstetrics.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES 

The following licensure(s), certification(s), registration(s), etc., are required for this position.  Licenses with restrictions are subject to review to determine if restrictions are substantially related to the position.

Minimum Required: Must have or has had a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification awarded by the State of Wisconsin. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) within three months of hire.

Preferred/Optional: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) at time of hire.
