Occupational Health and Safety Coordinator
This position will report directly to the on-site Safety Officer and support research related activities on Amentum's USEPA Research Laboratory Support contract. Primary work will be assisting in the creation and administration of Health and Safety Research Protocols, Health and Safety Plans and Job Hazard Analyses, written in support of the various research objectives established for each research project. Our reseacher's work environments include both local chemical and industrial laboratories as well remote and field sites at times. Responsibilities include: + Promotes and follows all safety procedures related to assigned tasks. + Documents activities and records observations in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures, Work Instructions and Safety Office Policies. + Maintains hard-copy and electronic records of results and reports in accordance with Amentum and EPA records management protocols. + Performs all work in accordance with established Amentum and EPA safety protocols. + Notifies Project/Department Managers/Supervisors/Safety Officer of safety issues and concerns and documents appropriately. + Assists with incident investigations, audit corrective actions, routine inspections. + Performs other duties as assigned by Safety Officer. Education: Recent graduate of an accredited Occupational Health & Safety education program. Years of experience: Entry Level, 0-2 years + Strong attention to detail + Proficient with basic computer applications such as Microsoft Office Suite programs (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint) + Knowledge of chemical and industrial hygiene standards and regulations (OSHA) + Ability to function effectively in a team-oriented atmosphere + Works independently when necessary + Strong organization skills as well as excellent writing and oral communication skills + Ability to pass a Federal Background Check and obtain a valid North Carolina Driver's License Preferred considerations: + BS or BA from an accredited college or university program. + Prior safety engineering experience, including hazard evaluation, PPE selection and use + Experience performing exposure sampling and/or monitoring + Knowledge of transportation and driving standards and regulations (DOT, IOTA, CMV, CDL) **Essential** **Functions** + Lifting - 5% + Climbing - Minimal, field work + Crawling - Minimal, field work + Office Equipment - 90% + Laboratory - 10% + Equipment Used - Electrically operated computers and office equipment + Attendance - Monday through Friday + Shift - 1st + Must be able to pass a drug screen + Must pass a stringent background check by the client in order to gain access to the facility
