Occupational Nurse

Job Description:

The Occupational Health Nurse is a licensed professional with a current RN/LPN license in Georgia and can obtain a license in multiple states. This individual is responsible for providing the promotion and restoration of health, prevention of illness and injury, and protection from work-related and environmental hazards. This position includes providing appropriate employee care within the scope of the state's Nurse Practice Act. This position will provide nursing services to facilities across the United States. To provide health-appropriate evaluations and treatment for work and non-work-related injuries or illnesses. This position also handles case management strategies for work-related injuries/ illnesses. Use of an approved employee health record-keeping system and compliance with regulatory requirements to maintain the confidentiality of personal health information are required. Participate and coordinate pre-placement or post-employment health assessments. This position aids in the coordination of medical claims adjusters, medical personnel, workers' compensation, and FMLA. This position also coordinates and implements a wellness program that includes approved strategies for management-defined disease management programs.

Responsibilities:

A. Health and Wellness initiatives

Promotion of Wellness events and nurse relations Participation in Working for Life events

B. Case management of Workers’ Compensation

Responsible for accurately documenting all information for Workers’ Compensation claims Responsible for the confidentiality of patient information for all Workers’ Compensation cases

C. Coordinate health surveillance

DOT Pre-employment/post-employment physicals and vision screens Employee health screens Support for employee medical conditions

D. Employee Relations

Be available for employee issues and concerns Promotion and restoration of health Promoting worker productivity by developing and implementing health policies Prevention of illness and work-related injuries

E. Communication

Communication is required between all employees within the Nursing team Must be in communication with Management, Safety, and Human Resources in all aspects within the company Must be able to interact with employees and communicate effectively any instructions or treatment plans

F. Certifications

Retain RN/LPN current license to practice in the State of Georgia and other states as needed CPR: Must retain a valid CPR certification Retain current Driver’s license and automobile insurance for travel Any other trainings or certifications requested by management

G. Physical Requirements

Must be able to perform and instruct CPR in the event of an emergency Must be able to respond quickly and effectively to medical events occurring within the work environment Must be able to consistently walk the manufacturing floor to interact with employees and management

H. Appearance

A professional appearance is expected of the nursing department at all times by upholding a clean and tidy appearance. Hair needs to be groomed and pulled back if with a patient or in the manufacturing areas. Uniforms are provided by Engineered Floors and are mandatory for all nurses at all times (Uniforms must be stain-free, wrinkle-free, and have no visible damage)

I. Cleanliness

Maintain cleanliness of all nurse stations and work areas at all times Sanitizing the work area is expected to reflect a safe medical environment Trash must be removed daily No food should be left out on counters or work areas

J. On-Call

Required to be available by phone for scheduled on-call shifts Required to be available by vehicle to the injury site with a maximum of a 30-minute arrival time Required to perform an assessment via phone and assist Supervision/Management in providing treatment

K. Other

Good attendance is expected from the nursing department Planned vacation requests should be made a month prior due to on-call scheduling Un-planned vacation requests should be made as soon as possible and will be reviewed on an individual basis Tardies should always be reported immediately to ensure coverage of your sites. Any other duties assigned by Supervisor or Management

Safety Requirements:

All Engineered Floors safety procedures must be followed All standard nursing practices and guidelines should be followed to ensure the safety of the nurse and patient during patient care.
