Occupational Safety Technician - Day Shift
Job Details

ChristianaCare is searching for an Occupational Safety Technician to conduct respirator fit testing and support the Christiana Care Respiratory Protection Program. Perform other safety and industrial hygiene technical duties as assigned.

Work hours: Monday - FridayDay ShiftAn occasional weekend shift may be required. Also could travel between ChristianaCare sites.

Principal duties and responsibilities:

Conduct respirator fit testing for individual units/departments as appropriate to support compliance with OSHA standards.

Maintain Christiana Care’s fit-testing equipment. This would include daily maintenance and checks as well as sending equipment out for factory calibration and repair as needed.

Maintain the database of fit-testing results.

Perform monthly respirator inspections.

Perform monthly industrial hygiene equipment calibrations and maintain associated documentation.

Perform other safety and industrial hygiene duties as assigned.

Education and experience requirements:

High School graduate.

Two years' experience in a customer service environment.

Equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.

Knowledge, skill, and ability requirements:

Basic knowledge of computer operation including Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel and Access databases.

Ability to operate and troubleshoot simple electronic equipment.

Good communication skills, ability to interact with caregivers at all levels within the organization.

Good organizational skills required. Ability to develop schedules and follow them.

Ability to coordinate all aspects of a program.

Special requirements:

Current Driver’s License, Acceptable motor vehicle record.

Physical demands:

Walking, standing, lifting (up to 30 lb.), and sitting.

Working conditions:

Clinical and support areas within the hospital interior. Some travel between hospitals. Position is routinely exposed to normal healthcare and office environments. Shifts may vary as needed to fit-test staff on each shift.
