Occupational Therapist 1- Experienced- Outpatient Rehab

This is a unique Outpatient Neuro Rehabilitation Program seeking a FULL TIME Occupational Therapist for our Mt. Vernon location to provide care to a diverse adult population with weekday support for a strong, multidisciplinary clinical team (PT, OT, SLP, Neuropsych and Social Work).   Stroke and brain injury experience preferred.   Our facility maintains a smaller community hospital feel, while operating within the leading healthcare system in Northern Virginia.    

The Occupational Therapist 1 adheres to department policies regarding the timeframe, form, and content of written evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries. Communicates effectively with patients, family, medical staff, care team members, students, supervisors, and outside contacts while completing all administrative tasks and other responsibilities in support of the operating unit. Demonstrates essential skill competencies in the use of treatment modalities, equipment, and protocols while performing re-evaluations, according to department guidelines, and adjusting the treatment plan as needed.

Schedule: M-F, 8 hour shifts, weekend rotations

Job Responsibilities:

 

Documents evaluation results clearly and completely according to department policy. Completes daily progress notes that reflect patients' responses to treatment, actual performance and an assessment as to status, relevant to the treatment plan, and eventual discharge needs and treatment summaries if needed. Completes discharge notes that include a summary of the course of treatment, progress toward goals, discharge needs, recommendations for follow-up and patient and/or family education. Communicates effectively with patients, families, medical staff, care team members, students, supervisors and outside contacts. Provides educational materials and methods appropriate to patients' level of understanding and motivation. Demonstrates essential skill competencies in the use of treatment modalities, equipment and protocols. Performs re-evaluations according to department guidelines – adjusting the treatment plan as needed.



Requirements:

Education:

Bachelors of Science, Occupational Therapy. Master’s Degree Preferred 

Certification:

BLS certified through the American Heart Association.

Licensure:

Virginia License required upon start
