The University of Miami UHealth – Department of Physical Therapy at SoLé Mia has an exciting opportunity for a full time Occupational Therapist 2. The Occupational Therapist II plans and conducts individualized occupational therapy programs to help patients develop, regain, or maintain their ability to perform daily activities. Additionally, the incumbent teaches patients skills and techniques and how to use adaptive equipment to participate in activities. The Occupational Therapist II also studies, evaluates, and records patients' activities and progress. CORE JOB FUNCTIONS + Demonstrates and articulates sound clinical reasoning in synthesizing complex evaluation data, identifying diagnosis, and developing a comprehensive care plan. + Develops and updates an appropriate care plan with measurable goals in collaboration with the patient and their family and based on the person's age and lifestyle. + Selects and administers assessment and treatment techniques and performs age-appropriate competency skills evaluations. + Follows intervention protocols and revises interventions appropriately. + Discharges patient when goals have been met or medical necessity is no longer indicated. + Initiates patient and family education relative to age, readiness to learn, and emotional status. + Utilizes appropriate methods and materials for effective learning, monitoring response to education, adapting program appropriately. + Ensures that patient and family understand when and how to access further intervention. Performs data collection for the department accurately and within the expected time frame. Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets. CORE QUALIFICATIONS + Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field + Certification in relevant specialty or field + Minimum 3 year of relevant experience Knowledge, Skills, and Attitudes: + Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail. + Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines. + Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion. + Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary. + Commitment to the University’s core values. + Ability to work independently and/or in a collaborative environment.
