Occupational Therapist St. Mary's School for the Deaf 2253 Main Street Buffalo , NY 14214 Classified - Position - Occupational Therapist - competitive Job Number 3300051062 Start Date Open Date 03/04/2025 Closing Date 05/09/2025 DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: Preference will be given to candidates who possess the following: + Plan and provide occupational therapy services to a caseload of students from ages 0-21 with deafness, hearing loss and a variety of other disabilities within their educational setting. This includes early intervention, preschool and school age students. + Evaluate potential new and existing students to determine if occupational therapy services are needed. Write reports from the evaluations and give recommendations to the Committee at the Special Education meetings. + Maintain accurate records and documentation including daily notes, quarterly reports, annual reviews, up to date scripts, re-evaluations, Medicaid notes, regression documentation and writing individual educational programs. + Working in web-based software programs frontline education (IEP Direct) and clear track. + Work closely with other professionals on creating and updating Individual Family Service Plans and Individual Education Programs. + Build and maintain positive professional relationships with students, parents and co-workers. Contact parents when needed. + Follow St. Mary's School for the Deaf school calendar and participates in school activities such as off campus class field trips. + Other duties as assigned by school administrators. Experience/Certifications/Requirements + Must have NY Certified registered/licensed occupational therapist + Master of Science in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program + Successful completion of National Certification Examination + The ability to successfully complete a Sign Language Proficiency Interview (SLPI) at the proficiency level defined for each job position as determined by SMSD. + Proficient in Sign Language to communicate with staff members and students, or willingness to learn American Sign Language. + 3 years' experience as an occupational therapist in a school setting.
