Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for a Occupational Therapist to join the Movement Disorder team working out of the Neurology Clinics at Djavad Mowafaghian Centre for Brain Health - UBC Hospital in Vancouver, BC. Apply today to join our team!

 

As an Occupational Therapist you will:

Work in a team based environment and provides quality client care using advanced theory and evidence based practice.Develop education services.Utilize advanced clinical knowledge in neurological diseases/syndromes/lesions/impairments specific to applicable therapy.Develop, evaluate and participate in program development focusing on disease conditions from an occupational therapy perspective.Facilitate and promote research activities for Allied Health care professionals, organizing and coordinating activities with others.Consult, collaborate and confer with academic and professional colleagues to initiate interdisciplinary research and actively participate and promote research.Function as a clinical resource for other occupational therapists by providing advice and guidance regarding applicable disease and movement disorders. Qualifications

Education & Experience

Current full registration as an Occupational Therapist with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC (CHCPBC).Two (2) years' recent related neurology experience including one (1) year's related teaching experience and group facilitation and additional course work in research skills or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.Eligible for membership in the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists (CAOT)

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Knowledge of evidence-based clinical practice related to applicable neurological disease.Broad knowledge of occupational therapy theory and practice within a client and family centred model of care.Demonstrated ability to teach and empower clients to assume control over their health.Knowledge of research process and methodology.Knowledge of adult education principles, methods and tools.Broad knowledge of other health care disciplines and their role in client care.Demonstrated ability to promote Indigenous Cultural Safety.Demonstrated ability to provide competent and culturally safety care in a variety of settings and with diverse populations.Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in a culturally safe and respectful manner, with co-workers, physicians, other health care staff and patients/clients and their circle of care.Knowledge of the standards of practice and guidelines for clinical practitioners established by the college regulating occupational therapy.Demonstrated ability to teach, demonstrate, facilitate, motivate and coach staff and clients.Demonstrated ability to function as an effective team member.Demonstrated ability to provide effective consultation.Demonstrated ability to develop educational programs and materials.Demonstrated skills in the use of equipment and in techniques appropriate to the treatment of clients.Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in groups, one-on-one, and in writing.Demonstrated ability to work independently and in collaboration with others.Demonstrated ability to establish workload priorities in collaboration with others.Demonstrated ability to conduct research and support knowledge translation of findings.Demonstrated physical ability to perform the duties of the position.Computer literacy with word processing, spreadsheet and database skills.Ability to operate related equipment.
