Occupational Therapist - Occupational Therapy - Full Time 8 Hour Days

Under the supervision of the Occupational Therapy Coordinator, provides occupational therapy care to adolescent, adult and geriatric patients with various diagnoses.  Major duties include patient evaluation and treatment planning for effective patient outcomes, problem resolution, patient care documentation, attendance at patient care related meetings, delegation of duties to support personnel, participation as a member of a team, maintenance of an appropriate level of productivity, participation in performance improvement activities. Must demonstrate knowledge of current practice in the field of Occupational Therapy, effective verbal and written communication skills, and mature and sound judgment. After one year of experience, serves as a clinical instructor for Level I and Level II Occupational Therapy interns.


Minimum Education: Graduation from an Occupational Therapy curriculum with Bachelor or Master level degree from a school approved by the council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association and the American Occupational Therapy Association. Current certification from the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy. Minimum Experience/Knowledge: Effective oral and written communication skills to work with patients, families, physicians and other personnel. Performs effective evaluation and treatment techniques. Must understand and utilize the theories behind Occupational Therapy including physical disabilities and psychosocial impairments. Must understand theory, precautions and contraindications for equipment and procedures and their effects on the child, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient population. Must have knowledge of human anatomy, physiology and psychosocial issues in order to assess the effects of treatment on body function and structures for the child, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients. Must understand concepts of isolation, sterile technique and the applications within physical medicine. Must understand required policies and procedures for PMR, Occupational Therapy and the hospital in general. Demonstrates understanding and knowledge of professional practice standards. Required License/Certification: · Current CA license to practice Occupational Therapy issued by the Department of Consumer Affairs. · Current certification from National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy. · Current certification in BLS for Healthcare Provider from the American Heart Association.
