Occupational Therapist (OT)
Summary

Provides high-quality patient care and occupational therapy services by evaluating, planning, implementing, and documenting treatment. Assesses and develops rehabilitation programs tailored to medically necessary patients as prescribed by a physician. Selects appropriate therapeutic activities based on the physician’s prescription, patient history, evaluation findings, and individual interests. Plans and facilitates specialized educational or diversional activities for patients. Instructs and collaborates with Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTA/OTA) on treatment procedures and supervises them in implementing therapy programs. Ensures timely and accurate documentation and billing. All care is provided in compliance with the philosophy and essential functions of the rehabilitation department, the Joint Commission, State Practice Acts, and the American Occupational Therapy Association.

Education Must be a graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy program with the following degree requirements: A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree if graduated before January 1, 2002. A Master’s degree if graduated after January 1, 2002. International candidates must possess a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy (Master’s degree preferred). Licensure/Certification Must hold or be eligible for an Occupational Therapy license in the state of practice (to be obtained within 90 days of employment). CPR certification required within the first 90 days of employment. Must maintain all required licenses and certifications. American Occupational Therapy Association membership preferred. If assigned to drive a company vehicle, a valid driver’s license is required. If using a personal vehicle for work, proof of insurance is required along with a valid driver’s license. Experience Work experience preferred but not required, aside from clinical experience obtained during an accredited training program. Other Qualifications Must be able to lift 50 pounds and assist with 100 pounds in a shared lifting scenario. Must have strong verbal and written communication skills. Must be flexible and willing to work at other locations as assigned.
