The Occupational Therapist is responsible for performing client evaluations, developing and providing occupational therapy services, and documenting services in accordance with the plan of care developed for each patient.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Provides skilled occupational therapy services/interventions in accordance with physician orders Reevaluates client for rehabilitation needs, and works in collaboration with the physician and other members of the healthcare team to modify the plan of care as appropriate Assesses patient needs, plans for, evaluates and modifies care to meet goals of Occupational Therapy Interventions Collaborates with all disciplines to plan and evaluate team goals for each patient Instructs patient/family/caregivers on patient’s total occupational therapy program Advises, consults and instructs members of the multi-disciplinary team in specific occupational therapy modalities Observes and reports patient progress and/or changes in patient status to physician and appropriate multi-disciplinary team members Refers individual to other disciplines as deemed appropriate and as approved by the physician Teaches new skills or retrains clients in once-familiar daily activities that have become difficult or unfamiliar due to illness or injury Establishes equipment needs to facilitate independent living Instructs individual and/or family/caregiver in the use of various types of adaptive equipment to improve function; ensures equipment is in good working order Trains individual and/or family/caregiver in use of prosthetic and/or orthotic devices Performs work capacity evaluations and may refer individual to specialized vocational training in accordance with policy and regulations Provides accurate and timely documentation according to the plan of care Participates in care conferences or other meetings as required to ensure coordination of home health services (if applicable) Prepares and submits clinical progress-summary based on the progress of goals Provides in-services/education programs for various disciplines as needed Participates in peer consultation process Supervises Occupational Therapy Assistants according to company policies/procedures and state regulations Participates in discharge planning when applicable  Complies with applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations regarding professional standards and practice standards May fabricate splints and instruct individual and/or family/caregiver in the use, application and benefits Performs other duties as assigned/necessary

Minimum Requirements:

Current licensure as an Occupational Therapist in the State of practice Must be a graduate of an accredited school or program of Occupational Therapy One (1) year of prior professional Occupational Therapy experience preferred Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice  Participation and completion of Amergis’ Competency program when applicable Current CPR if applicable TB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable  Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)  Must meet all federal, state and local requirements  Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site  Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements   Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is required   Computer proficiency required  Must be at least 18 years of age Benefits At Amergis, we firmly believe that our employees are the heartbeat of our organization and we are happy to offer the following benefits: Competitive pay & weekly paychecks Health, dental, vision, and life insurance 401(k) savings plan Awards and recognition programs  *Benefit eligibility is dependent on employment status.  About Amergis Amergis, formerly known as Maxim Healthcare Staffing, has served our clients and communities by connecting people to the work that matters since 1988.
