Required Minimum Education: Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy

Preferred Education: Master of Occupational Therapy

               

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS

Required:  Licensed by the State of Ohio Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Athletic Trainers Board; BLS.

Preferred: Certification by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Years and Type of Experience: 1 year of clinical experience preferred

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:      

Performs initial occupational therapy evaluations, ongoing treatment, and treatment planning

Communicates patient evaluation results and POC to Occupational Therapy Assistant.  Promotes ongoing guidance,   communication, and supervision to COTA as needed.  Reviews and co-signs documentation.

Maintains timely and accurate documentation and billing of patient evaluation, treatment and discharge

Consults with referring physician and other team members as needed for continuation of patient care and planning for appropriate discharge disposition.

Provides clinical supervision/education for Occupational Therapy Interns/Students

Participates in hospital wide meetings/teams, continuing education seminars, and department/hospital continuing education in-services.  Takes responsibility for own professional growth and development.

Participates in department and hospital wide Performance Improvement Processes/ Programs.

Maintains department productivity standards and resources in a manner consistent with department budgets.

Appropriately reports and responds to problems/incidents that involve safety or compliance issues.
