OCCD promotes professional development to achieve high quality care and education for children and youth, and creates and supports training and education.

Programs
OCCD receives funding from the Oregon Child Care Division, the Department of Human Services, and the Oregon Community Foundation to administer statewide programs as part of an infrastructure plan to encourage and increase comprehensive professional development. Programs are designed to support Oregon’s early education and school-age care professionals and to increase professionalism.
Professional Development Planning
An intentional course of action that responds to professional interests, desire to grow in the field, and the changing demands of work. Child development outcomes are positively impacted by early childhood professionals who participate in quality professional development. A Professional Development Plan prepares professionals to support program quality, access scholarships, and engage in training that meets unique needs.
For more information, please visit https://www.pdx.edu/education-career-development/ Position Summary The purpose of this Office Specialist 2 position is to provide Oregon Center for Career Development Trainer program support including completing tasks related to the beginning, middle, and end of the application and training proposal processing. Responsibility examples include oversight of application and proposal screening for completeness, data entry, verification and final application and training proposal processing. Providing client communications and technical assistance is key to this position. Minimum Qualifications from Classification - Two years of general clerical experience. One year of which included typing, word processing, or other experience generating documents; OR
- An Associate’s degree in Office Occupations or Office Technology; OR
- Graduation from a private school of business with a Certificate in Office Occupations or Office Technology AND one year of general clerical experience.
Note:
College courses in Office Occupations or Office Technology will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis. Additional Minimum Qualifications for this Position Experience with word processing, databases and customer/public information service. Previous experience with internet browsers and Microsoft Office (Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel), or similar applications. Ability to work in a fast paced, multi-project office environment. Ability to understand and work with a variety of programs and individuals. Preferred Qualifications General knowledge of or interest in Childhood Care and Education field. General knowledge of Professional Development systems and programs. Knowledge and/or experience in Adult Learning theory and practice. Previous experience with computer database programs. Oral and written bilingual communication skills – Spanish/English, Russian/English, Vietnamese/English, and/or Chinese/English. The employee must have the ability to perform repetitive hand/wrist/arm movements, and the ability to work at a computer terminal for long periods of time.
This limited duration position may be renewed, subject to grant funding.
