Helpmates is seeking an experienced Ocean Import Specialist in the city of Cerritos. We are looking for someone who is bilingual in English and Chinese. In this role, you will be responsible for managing ocean freight shipments, coordinating with carriers, handling import documentation, ensuring compliance with regulations, and working closely with customers and customs brokers to ensure timely and accurate deliveries.

\nJob Duties \n\n\tMaintain email communications and documentation (e.g., HBL, MBL, ISF, P/L, C/I, 3461, 7501 ABI) in the job file.\n\tPerform credit checks and escalate issues as needed per company policy.\n\tEnsure company quotes, including cost and sell rates, are on file.\n\tRegularly organize and accurately file physical and electronic documents.\n\tRecord all actions in the job files.\n\tMonitor requests and confirm receipt of documents (e.g., A/N, invoices).\n\tRespond to all emails within the same working day.\n\tCommunicate professionally via phone, email, and fax, following company etiquette.\n\tUpdate clients and overseas agents on import statuses, ensuring updates are sent at least 3 days before arrival.\n\tEnsure BOL’s are surrendered, and express release or originals are provided.\n\tAdvise customers on arrival, clearance, and delivery schedules via email.\n\tResolve customer issues independently.\n\tSubmit Customs Clearance to the brokerage team 5 days before arrival.\n\tRequest competitive delivery rates and maintain communication with carriers/vendors.\n\tUpdate delivery schedules and inform all involved parties.\n\tMaximize profitability while being cost-conscious.\n\tEnsure cost and sell rates are updated in the system.\n\tComplete and issue invoices within 5 days of delivery.\n\nRequirements\n\n\n\tMinimum of 2 years of freight forwarding experience\n\t2 years experience using Cargowise software\n\tMust speak and write Chinese\n\tExperience in Logistics, and all aspects of ocean import\n\tStrong account management experience\n\tHigh level of responsibility\n\tGood written and oral communication skills\n\tMust have good knowledge and experience in ocean import process and documentation.\n\tTeam player with proven ability to work under pressure and maintain a good attitude.\n\tMust be self-motivated, able to work in a team and independently\n\tMust be detail oriented, have the ability to multitask and meet deadlines\n\tMust have a good sense of urgency\n\tAble to effectively resolve issues\n\n\n
