Ocean Import Specialist

About the role:

As an Ocean Import Specialist for TQL Global, you will be instrumental in the growth and development of the ocean freight forwarding business of TQL Global. You will be responsible for coordinating all aspects of ocean import shipments, communicating with internal and external stakeholders, maintaining accurate records and delivering high-quality customer experiences.

What you’ll be doing:

\n\nCoordinate and manage all aspects of ocean import shipments, from booking through delivery, ensuring timely and efficient delivery of goods in order to deliver high-quality customer experience.\nCommunicate with overseas agents, carriers, and other service providers to arrange and confirm shipment details, including booking, documentation, tracking and tracing, customs clearance and delivery.\nPrepare and review shipping documents, including bills of lading, invoices, and customs declarations, to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.\nTrack and monitor the status of import shipments, providing regular updates to clients and internal stakeholders on shipment progress and any potential delays or issues.\nWork closely with customs brokers and regulatory authorities to ensure smooth clearance of imported goods, resolving any customs-related issues or discrepancies as needed.\nCollaborate with internal departments to address client inquiries, provide support, and resolve shipment-related issues.\nMaintain accurate and up-to-date records of import shipments, including tracking information, documentation, and financial data, using appropriate systems and software.\nAdhere to internal and external KPIs and deliver exceptional compliance audit scores\nStay informed about industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in ocean transportation, and proactively identify opportunities for process improvement and cost savings.\nProvide excellent customer service to clients, addressing their needs and providing solutions promptly and professionally.

What you need:

\n\nBachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field preferred.\nMinimum of 5 years of experience in ocean import operations in a freight forwarding or logistics environment.\nStrong knowledge of ocean freight documentation, customs regulations, INCO terms, and international trade practices.\nProficiency in using freight forwarding software and Microsoft Office applications.\nExcellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact effectively with clients, vendors, and internal teams.\nDetail-oriented with strong organizational and multitasking abilities, capable of managing multiple shipments simultaneously.\nProblem-solving skills and the ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.\nCustomer-focused mindset with a commitment to delivering high-quality service.
