Ocean Policy Analyst

To join our team of outstanding professionals, apply today! **Responsibilities** + Reviews technical information related to ocean science and climate and provides appropriate advice to leadership on positions the U.S. should take + Monitors international efforts related to climate mitigation strategies that have a coastal and ocean component, such as marine protected areas, coastal resilience, and blue carbon sinks + Supports OPA’s monitoring of and participation in international efforts to monitor and address changes in coastal and ocean environments caused by a changing climate, including but not limited to ocean acidification and sea level rise + Participates in inter- and intra-agency meetings to represent OES/OPA interests in a variety of discussions related to climate change and oceans, including adaptation and resilience + Maintains awareness of ongoing international discussions, meetings, and negotiations related to the ocean/climate interface + Provides routine and regular updates to OES/OPA and OES/O leadership on issues related to ocean and climate **Qualifications** + Bachelor's degree + International politics/foreign policy, research & evaluation, social science, or other related fields + Ability to solve problems and encourage consistent, solid performance + Proficiency in qualitative and quantitative research methods + English language (written and spoken) communications skills. + Ability to manage multiple tasks, coordinate activities in multiple locations, act decisively in daily work, and work well in a multi-cultural team environment + Strong organizational, communication, interpersonal, and computer skills + Ability to work independently to assess priorities and manage daily coordination of details with minimal supervision + Strong writing and oral communication skills, including strong interpersonal skills needed to maintain effective liaison with other State Department offices and other U.S. Government agencies + Capable of managing multiple projects and tasks simultaneously with competing priorities; able to produce results with tight deadlines in a high volume, fast-paced work environment + Strong ability to work in a flexible, team-oriented environment + Preferred background in ocean science, climate science or policy, and/or international relations + Department of State experience is preferred, not required though + Proficient with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), the use of standard office equipment, and the ability to learn and work with other software and database applications + Active Secret Clearance **Pay Range** 88,000 - 93,000 **Benefits** Regular - The company offers a comprehensive benefits program, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, 401(k) and a range of other voluntary benefits.
