Duties Description The Office Assistant 1 will provide clerical services for the Division of Environmental Remediation. This includes proofreading, finalizing, distributing, and managing documents for all division staff to ensure accuracy prior to distribution. Specific tasks may include typing, copying, scanning, filing hardcopies, filing electronic copies, mailing, emailing documents. Various software and applications used will include Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, DECDocs, Outlook, the Unified Information System (UIS), and Fiscal Management Information System (FMIS) / Statewide Financial System (SFS).Additional duties include the following:Obtain incoming mail and special mail daily, open, sort and distribute.Receive incoming phone calls and appropriately route them.Update the Litigation Holds spreadsheet.Special projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS).For the duration of the NY HELPS Program, this title may be filled via a non-competitive appointment, which means no examination is required but all candidates must meet the minimum qualifications of the title for which they apply. To be eligible for appointment under NY HELPS, candidates must meet the minimum qualifications below:There are no minimum education or experience requirements for this title.Candidates may also be appointed via the following: Reassignment - Currently in the title and an employee of DEC.orReinstatement Eligible - Previously held the title on a permanent competitive basis or held a title as indicated under the transfer eligible section on a permanent competitive basis.orTransfer Eligible - One year of permanent competitive service at Salary Grade 4 or higher and eligible to transfer via Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.
