(https://vimeo.com/897312077) About the Position This is a skilled clerical/customer service position. The incumbent performs routine tasks, serving as the shared customer service contact for the Department of Fleet Services. Automotive customer service experience is desired, but not required. The Equipment Services Coordinator reports to the Shop Supervisor of Fleet Services and supervises no staff. About the Division GENERAL SERVICES: The General Services Division is comprised of Fleet Services and Animal Services. This position is specific to Fleet. Fleet Services is responsible for providing a modern, well-equipped vehicle and equipment fleet that is maintained and utilized at the lowest reasonable cost while minimizing environmental impacts. Fleet and General Services Fund is associated with procurement, maintenance, operation, and replacement of fleet assets and are charged directly to the user department through rental rates. Fleet Services provide vehicles, equipment, maintenance services and fuel to County departments and several Federal, State and local partner agencies. Schedule: Monday – Thursday; 6:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. *This is an AFSCME represented position* *This position is budgeted for a maximum of 1,040 hours during the fiscal year. QUALIFICATIONS Training: + Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade. Experience : + Two years of responsible clerical and office assistance experience. An equivalent combination of experience and training that will demonstrate the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. Special Requirements: Essential Functions: + Operates Fleet Services Customer Service Counter. + Opens the fleet facility for business each day (Shift: M – Th, 6:30AM to 11:30AM). + Greets customers for vehicle and equipment maintenance / repairs. + Receives customer phone calls and makes appointments for service, considering customer needs. + Assists the Shop Supervisor in preparing work dispatch. + Records and resolves customer problems and complaints and/or notifies appropriate Fleet Services staff. + Opens work orders using the computerized fleet management system and routes to appropriate service section. + Advises customer of vehicle problems and notifies customers when vehicles and equipment are ready for pick up. + Maintains vehicle service files. + Prepares various reports as needed. Working Conditions: A. Hazard: + Chemicals – May be exposed to petroleum products, cleaning solvents, and fumes. + Conditions – Work area may have noise and vibrations. B. Environment: + Office – Primarily inside, but may have outside responsibilities and exposure to adverse weather. + Field – May test drive or move vehicles. C. Physical Effort: + Minimal. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: + Requires thorough knowledge of the automotive service and repair trade. + Requires comprehensive knowledge of the operations and systems characteristics of automobiles and light trucks. + Requires the ability to plan and organize the work of skilled mechanics and semi-skilled service workers. + Must have good organizational and communications skills. + Must have basic computer skills and be able to use a computer keyboard and mouse.
