If so, then the Maine Department of Labor’s dynamic Customer Service Unit needs you. We are seeking a talented individual to join our team and serve as one of the primary communication links between members of the public and the Maine Department of Labor, as well as handle administrative duties and assist various bureaus within the department. Primary responsibilities include: + This position is assigned to the Maine Department of Labor’s Reception Desk, Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm. + Primary responsibilities are to monitor the lobby and greet walk-in visitors and constituents, answer their questions and/or contact the appropriate DOL resources. As well as, answering the main line, identifying the caller’s issues, and also referring them to the appropriate MDOL Bureaus, or state resources, for resolution to their inquiries. + Managing, maintaining, and entering data information into various tracking spreadsheets. + Performing special projects as they are assigned. + Providing other administrative duties such as photocopying, preparing mail, receiving mail, and maintaining the Bureau of Labor Standards’ Labor Law poster and Video Libraries. Skills or knowledge required: + Excellent customer service skills + The ability to multitask + Excellent time management + Ability to understand and communicate complex matters + Ability to use discretion with sensitive matters and material + Knowledge of advanced computer applications, particularly Excel Minimum qualifications: Training, education, or experience in office and administrative support work that demonstrates 1) competency in applying a solid knowledge of modern office practices to perform complex, varied office support tasks, and 2) the ability to use independent decision-making on the appropriate processes to follow, information to process, and actions to take in accordance with standard procedures. All positions in this classification assume the qualifications of: Office Assistant I, Office Assistant II, and Office Associate I.
