Summary Reclamation is seeking a career professional looking for an opportunity to capitalize on their expertise as a Office Automation Clerk. Duty Location: Albuquerque, New Mexico Responsibilities This position is within the Administrative Services Group of the Albuquerque Area Office, Albuquerque, NM. The selected candidate will perform various office automation and clerical support services, including document preparation, office reception, maintaining shared calendars, handling mail, and managing file functions, among other support tasks. Duties Include but are not limited to: Review and edit memos, letters, and other correspondence for signature by office staff, ensuring correct English grammar, punctuation, spelling and format. Use multiple office automation software functions to produce a wide range of documents, forms, reports, correspondence, charts, tables, etc. Transmit, receive, and acknowledge electronic mail and messages. Receive and answer routine telephone inquiries or refer them to the appropriate staff member. Use a variety of automated systems (e.g., records management, electronic forms, electronic publications library, time and attendance, etc.) to perform various clerical duties. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To be considered minimally qualified for this position, you must demonstrate that you have the required specialized experience and/or education for the respective grade level in which you are applying: Specialized Experience: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-04 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing four (4) of the following: (1) utilizing Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access) to create, revise, and update correspondence, envelopes, labels, mailing lists, spreadsheets, tables, graphs, presentations, or databases; (2) reviewing and editing office correspondence using correct English grammar, punctuation, spelling in line with established guidelines and procedures; (3) receiving and answering routine telephone inquiries; (4) processing out and incoming mail; and/or (5) maintaining filing system. OR Education: Successful completion of at least four (4) years of education above the high school level in any field obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university in any field. One (1) year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school. NOTE: You must include transcripts. OR Combination: Successful completion of a combination of education and experience as described above. To combine education and experience, first take only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours of a course of study leading to a bachelor's degree is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirements. Two full academic years of study, or 60 semester hours, beyond the second year is equivalent to l year of specialized experience. Then take the number of months of full-time experience and divide by 12 months. Add the percentages together. The total must equal at least 100 percent to qualify. You must include transcripts. SELECTIVE FACTOR: You must be able to type at least 40 words per minute based on a five-minute sample with three or fewer errors in order to qualify for this position. You are self-certifying that you possess this typing requirement. Candidates who do not meet this requirement by close of this announcement will receive no further consideration for this position. TIME-IN-GRADE REQUIREMENTS FOR GS-05: Candidates may be advanced without time restriction to positions up to GS-05 if the position to be filled is no more than two grades above the lowest grade the employee held within the preceding 52 weeks under his or her latest nontemporary competitive appointment. Applicants eligible under the Land Management Workforce Flexibility Act (LMWFA) are not required to meet time-in-grade restrictions in order to be considered. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must include months, years and hours per week worked to receive credit for your work and/or volunteer experience. One year of specialized experience is equivalent to 12 months at 40 hours per week. Part-time hours are prorated. You will not receive any credit for experience that does not indicate exact hours per week or is listed as "varies". Education To qualify based on education, you must submit a legible copy of transcripts from an accredited institution with your name, school name, credit hours, course level, major(s), and grade-point average or class ranking. Transcripts do not need to be official, but if you are selected for this position and you used your education to qualify, you must provide official transcripts before you begin work. If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet qualification requirements, you must show that your education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university. GRADUATE EDUCATION: One academic year of graduate education is considered to be the number of credits hours your graduate school has determined to represent one academic year of full-time study. Such study may have been performed on a full-time or part-time basis. If you cannot obtain your graduate school's definition of one year of graduate study, 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) should be considered as satisfying the requirement for one year of full-time graduate study. Additional Information You may be required to serve an initial probationary period. Reclamation has determined that the duties of this position are suitable for telework and you may be allowed to telework with supervisory approval.
