POSITION SUMMARY / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

This is a job onboard a Cruise Ship
The Officer Utility is responsible for the daily service and high standard of cleanliness of the officer and key personnel quarters and surrounding areas, including hallways and pantry areas.

• Provides full service cleaning of cabins to officers and staff assigned to their section, to include but not be limited to:
o Bathrooms cleaned and sanitized daily
o Bedrooms dusted, vacuumed, tidied daily
o Bed linens on changing day or as needed
o Balcony washed down daily (if applicable)
o Hallway walls cleaned, polished and vacuumed daily
o Delivery and pickup of laundry/dry cleaning as needed
• Responsible for Boundary staterooms; keeping them clean and providing amenities as per a guest stateroom.
• Chemical caddy stocked with NCL-issued products that are correctly labeled. Proper dilution and use of chemicals is followed as per company the company safety guidelines. Chemical caddy is never left unattended.
• Linen and cleaning lockers are kept stocked, clean and orderly at all times.
• Linens properly sorted/bagged and taken to the laundry on a timely basis.
• Cleans and maintains all cleaning equipment and ensures they are kept in good working order.
• Ensures waste management of sorting (at source) is done and disposed of properly.
• Provides assistance to stateroom stewards during turn around day by stripping bed and pillows, removing linen, towels, chinaware, glassware, and garbage from the rooms. Additionally, collecting and removing the bags of soiled linens and towels. Sanitizes the ice bucket, lid, coffee carafe, and coffee filter basket for assigned stateroom sections. Vacuums staterooms and guest corridors.
• Assists with luggage delivery, as well as wheelchair assistance as needed.
• Performs other related duties as assigned or as directed. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
• Must be familiar with the Safety and Environmental Protection Policy, SEMS, USPH, and Waypoint and carry out the policies and procedures appropriate for his/her position.

QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS
• Intermediate to Advanced verbal and written level of English is required.
• One year experience in a Hotel or related establishment is required; or one year experience in hotel related positions onboard ships is required.

EDUCATION
• High school diploma or equivalent is required.

REQUIRED ABILITIES / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
• While performing the essential functions of this job, all team members are required to stand; walk long distances on the ship; use hands to touch, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk, hear, taste and smell. All vessel positions require repetitive motion of bending, climbing, going up and down stairs and lifting more than 25 pounds. This job requires specific vision abilities to include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
