Job Title: Health Actuarial Intern - 2025

Office/Regions available: Atlanta, Chicago, Milwaukee, and Philadelphia

The Health Practice of Oliver Wyman is rapidly growing and seeking individuals who are highly motivated to expand our team. The practice seeks to inspire a collaborative, team-based culture which fosters free flowing ideas, values diversity and allows for challenges to the status quo. As an Actuarial Intern, you will work alongside and learn from Oliver Wyman’s industry leaders and other consultants while contributing to a broad range for client projects. You will gain industry exposure with Oliver Wyman’s clients, which include top tier insurance companies, provider health systems, state regulators, and private equity firms.

Potential projects may include:

Health insurance product development, modeling and analysis supportCare management design and operational efficiency optimizationPricing assumption analysis, trend analysis and model methodology reviewsMedical and pharmacy claims analysis, including benchmarking to applicable industry experienceFinancial reporting and valuation supportMarket simulation analyses of proposed federal and state legislationMergers & acquisitions due diligence including assumption review, model build and valuationFeasibility studies for startup operations or expansions of new productsSupport of regulatory changes and implementationAnalysis of value-based care and other risk-taking arrangements

In addition, all interns participate in our actuarial bootcamp which consists of a series of presentations, case studies, and mentorship sessions over a six-week period and aims to give participants a valuable and directly applicable skillset for future employment opportunities within the actuarial industry.

Skills and Attributes

Working towards Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, preferably in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance or a related fieldCommitment to passing actuarial examsTrack record of and desire for rapid learning, high performance, and professional growthStrong written and oral communication skillsExcellent time management skillsUnderstanding of the value of collaboration and the ability to work effectively in a team settingDeep critical-thinking skills and problem-solving abilityHighly motivated individual and willingness to work in a dynamic environmentExposure to MS Excel, SAS, SQL, R, Python, VBA or other programming languages

The applicable range for this role is $28.00 to $36.25 per hour.

The salary offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and any applicable minimum wage requirements. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis.
