Job Title: Health Partner and Practice Leader

The Health Actuarial Practice of Oliver Wyman works with health organizations to manage their financial risks and support health care delivery by using advanced actuarial and modeling techniques and has over 70 employees across 6 offices in North America. Our Health Practice is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Actuarial Consulting Health Practice Leader to join our established, yet growing, ambitious team of consulting healthcare actuaries, and will report to the Global Life and Health Leader. As Partner and Practice Leader, you will be responsible for guiding and inspiring the team, driving organizational success, and collaborating with our clients, industry partners, and other corporate leaders. You will be responsible for providing the Practice’s strategic direction, business development and client relationships, and continued delivery of high-quality actuarial solutions. This senior-level position requires strong leadership experience, business development skills and relationships with senior industry executives, deep understanding of the health insurance landscape and the demonstrated ability to navigating complex projects and teams through challenging business environments.

The successful candidate understands the importance of fostering a strong team-oriented, supportive culture focused on growth, learning, and a shared passion for delivering insights and impact that assist our clients in achieving their vision.

Responsibilities may include:

Develop and execute the strategic vision for the Health practice, aligning it with the overall Oliver Wyman growth and profitability objectives.Provide leadership and guidance to a team of actuarial consultants, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.Drive business and market development efforts including identifying market trends, emerging issues, and opportunities to drive growth and innovation across the practice.Establish and maintain high-level relationships with existing Oliver Wyman clients, including identifying collaboration opportunities with other part of MarshMcLennan and Oliver Wyman, including our Health and Life Sciences business.Provide direction of Practice investments in thought leadership, intellectual capital development and other emerging service offerings.Maintain Oliver Wyman’s reputation as an industry leader in the Health industry to foster the Practice’s growth and aid in hiring and retention of a high performing team of actuariesInspire and instill a practice culture that encompasses our firm’s values including: working together for a common purpose, continuous professional and personal growth, and the importance of compassion, transparency, trust, and acceptance of diverse opinions.

Qualifications and desired skills

Minimum fifteen years’ experience in the actuarial healthcare industry, with prior consulting experienceFellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) or equivalent professional designationDeep knowledge of the healthcare insurance industry, including ACA products, Medicare Advantage products, Pharma and Providers; the ability to spot trends, implement best practices, and navigate and adapt to regulations and changesStrong business expertise with prior experience of developing and executing a strategic plan, manage financial performance, and drive business developmentDemonstration of ability to sell actuarial projects and services via a deep network of industry executives.Proven record of leading and managing teams through high stress, fast-paced and demanding environments, with a calm, understanding and positive attitude, while achieving desired resultsExcellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships and effectively collaborate with diverse teams of clients, colleagues, and industry stakeholdersDemonstrated leadership skills with the ability to inspire and mentor staff, committed to the growth and development of the team and PracticeAbility to foster a diverse and inclusive culture of trust, transparency and accountability, as well as development of innovative and entrepreneurial leaders
