Cleveland Clinic's Ombudsman Office is a liaison or connection between our patients and those providing direct patient care. Our job is to help find potential solutions by removing barriers that can impact that care. There might not always be an easy answer, but our representatives always listen to concerns and do what we can to help whenever possible. Although we'd like to be able to help with any concern, our Ombudsman Office is best equipped to answer questions and concerns about the service patients are receiving at Cleveland Clinic. These services include medical care, quality of care, our caregivers and service during an appointment or hospital stay. **A caregiver in this position works 8:00am - 5:00pm.** A caregiver who excels in this role will: + Develop and maintain an integrated approach to patient complaints and grievances and caregiver assistance that effectively focuses on continuous service improvement. + Identify, evaluate, and resolve patient complaints and grievances. + Determine proactive recommendations and provide feedback of resolution to appropriate parties. + Through mediation and negotiation, ensure a positive working relationship between physicians, caregivers, patients and families in order to support and maintain the highest quality of patient standards. + Help patients and caregivers who request assistance with issues or problems. + Advise on HIPAA regulations. + Assist caregivers with problem patients and visitors, including workplace violence support. + Investigate lost belongings, input case warnings, and process compliments for caregivers. + Conduct investigations for the Law Department and negotiate settlements as instructed. Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: + Bachelor's degree. + Three years of related experience, such as customer service or investigating and resolving complaints of a complex nature with emphasis on mediation, negotiation, communication, problem resolution and program development. + A high school diploma/GED and seven years of experience may substitute the education requirement. + An associate's degree and five years of experience may substitute the education requirement.
