Onboarding Specialist I
Summary/Objective The Onboarding Specialist will ensure accuracy and completeness of all required merchant account set-up documentation in preparation for the fraud, compliance, and credit risk reviews by merchant services processor. The ideal candidate should have a solid understanding of payment underwriting processes, financial risk behaviors and patterns, and credit and financial documentation required to establish a merchant services account with zero defect. In addition, the Onboarding Specialist will engage with merchants and/or internal personnel to provide consult and guidance, as necessary, to assist with accurate and timely completion of the required documentation.             

 

Essential Functions/ Responsibilities Executes defined procedures to review and evaluate new and existing merchant payment processing account set-up documentation for financial, fraud, credit, processing and compliance risk Makes direct client contact via outbound calls and email to obtain or verify business, personal and processing information, both for internal and external clients Provides accurate, and timely resolutions to complex or escalated client issues associated with the merchant account Works independently to proactively identify potential documentation inaccuracies and information deficiencies to reduce financial, operational and reputation risk Document complete, concise and accurate Salesforce case notes Maintains or exceeds established standards for merchant account set-up procedures and timelines Proactively seeks recommendations on process improvements, while also identifying areas where improvement is needed and contributes to making the necessary changes Collaborates with immediate and extended team to share best practices and ideas on techniques for accurate completion of merchant account forms and documents; performing training as required Collaborates with merchant services processors and internal stakeholders to identify best practices and process improvements Assists on special projects as assigned, including on-going ownership of stretch assignments

 

Supervisory Responsibility

This position does not have any direct supervisory responsibilities.

Education and Experience 1-2 years of merchant services account set-up experience Bachelor or Associate degree Effective interpersonal and communication skills Results driven and demonstrated problem solving skills; takes ownership of issue resolution Exceptional client focus, with good client service skills Exceptional attention to detail, independent worker Experience working directly with large merchants, across multiple industries, domestic and international Functional knowledge of card association operating rules and card interchange, NACHA and ACH guidelines Familiarity with the merchant services credit underwriting, KYC, AML processes, preferred Familiarity with Merchant Code Categories and card association merchant programs, such as Visa® Discount Utility Rate Program or Debt Repayment Program, preferred Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers, photocopiers and smartphones.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is required to stand; walk; sit; and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. This would require the ability to and/or move up to 15 pounds.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position.  Days and hours of work are Monday thru Friday during normal business hours.  Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Travel

Employees may travel up to 10% of the time.
