Oncology Laboratory Technician Trainee

Work Schedule:  1st shift hours from 8:00AM - 4:30PM, Sunday – Thursday.

Job Responsibilities

Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria

Perform routine and complex procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures

Corresponding with other laboratory support groups to resolve client inquiries and concerns

Reviewing test orders prior to specimen processing to ensure sample type is appropriate and all information is included

Identifying mis-orders and contacting clients to obtain information necessary to complete all necessary testing

Calling clients to notify them of delayed or abnormal test results

Adheres to the laboratory’s quality control policies and maintains appropriate logs and records as required

Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care

Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment

Requirements:

Associate’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology or meet local regulatory (CLIA & State) requirements

Previous clinical laboratory testing experience is not required

Ability to work independently and within a team environment

Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems is a plus

High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills

Must be able to pass a standardized color vision screen

Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
